Inspiration Drawn Between Two Siblings

Two joyful little beans were born into nourishing fields—supported both by a wise moon and a playful sun…

The moon and sun taught their children well, sprinkling encouraging dewdrops, calming mist, passionate rays, and a loving glow upon the seedlings. Time passed, and the sprouts blossomed and grew.

Suddenly Winter fell— harsh and bitter with toil n’ trouble— yet the spouts never faltered in their height and excitement as the winter passed, followed by more and more seasons. Rather they inched higher and higher up the fence encircling their yard.

One year, the two stalks noticed that one boasted purple petals while the other flaunted pink. Was this bad

No! Buzzing golden bees busily nipped from both of the bean sprouts’ flowering buds. The bean pods, growing steadily on their strengthening and persevering vines, were equal in size and taste.

As more time passed, and the fellow sprouts embraced the earth and water and light in their own natural ways, they grew tall enough to peer over the fence. Each morning and every dusk they watched the sun and moon rise and set over their enlarging world.

When Harvest Season arrived, the bean sprouts trembled beneath the hands of the farmers. Would they last the judgement and their graduation?

With triumph and surety, yes

The two bean plants— fully grown and adorning abundant, robust pods full of delicious, rich peas— stood tall and magnificent, resplendent in their individual glory and purpose.

And the founding moon and soaring sun?

They winked in the sky above— at peace within, and with the stars, and the clouds. They saw their children cry under rain and rejoice under spring; they watched their children tremble under snow and dance along the summer breeze.

And did the parents wail moon-drop pearls? Did they weep rays of gold? Did they cloud light with disappointment or cast doubt on the returning tide?  Did the bean sprouts blossom still? Were the blossoms unique? Expressed differently? Was one of them “wrong?”

All elements shape; all subjects learn. Are we ready to listen? Are we ready to grow? Do we know when to stop following? Do we know when to say “Yes” and when to say “No?”
