Struggling with “fear” behavior in my characters

Today I searched for an article that might help me in the drafting of my characters’ behavioral tags for fear in my novel. After writing multiple suspense scenes and lines of dialogue where my characters experience fear, dread, terror, and panic, I noticed a repetition in the phrases I was using. Phrases like “her heart froze” or “the hair rose on the back of his neck,” among others, and I wanted to be more versatile as well as critical in the words I was choosing.
